How to apply for a Year 7 place

All students attending Ladymead and St. Augustine’s Schools before the opening of the Academy have an automatic right to transfer to the Academy on 1 September 2010. Admission for Children who start Year 7 in September 2010 is managed as outlined in the Academy admissions policy <link to pdf>. In common with other local secondary schools The Taunton Academy works within Somerset County Council’s admission arrangements.

How to apply for a sixth form place

Entry into the sixth form will be based on students’ suitability for the courses available and give priority of places to students in the catchment area, subject to their meeting a minimum level of attainment. To download a copy of The Taunton Academy’s full admissions policy.

Special Educational Needs

The Taunton Academy conforms to the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice and the Disability Discrimination Act. We have an inclusion co-ordinator who works with her team to ensure the needs of students with SEN are met. Working closely with the Learning Communities resource team, Support for Learning team and external agencies, the Inclusion Team provides the support your child needs.
